This year the 2022 Men's Football World Cup is being held in Qatar. Whilst we are hoping to enjoy supporting our home nation teams, we think it equally important to not shy away from the human rights issues that are heavily featured in the media at present. In particular those regarding problematic human rights in Qatar that affect our LGBTQ+ community. 

Many people are taking a stand against hate and joining the #ProudStadium. As football fans are filling stadiums in Qatar, people are filling a virtual Proud Stadium with supporters of LGBTQ+ rights. The aim of joining this virtual stadium is to send a powerful message to global leaders that LGBTQ+ rights are human rights, and we won't stand for the persecution of LGBTQ+ people in Qatar or anywhere else.

Their goal is to reach 80,000 signatures as this is the size of the Lusail Stadium in Qatar where the World Cup final will be held. Click here to join their campaign.
